ChemPlastExpo is presented in Madrid as the reference event for chemical and plastics industry

Madrid, 2018, May 9th.- ChemPlastExpo has been presented to the industry as the new annual pioneer appointment for the chemistry and plastics sector, focused on innovation and committed to digitization and industry 4.0 for these two driving sectors of industry and the Spanish economy. The event will be held next 6,7 and 8 November at IFEMA Madrid, and it will bring together the most innovative solutions in materials, technologies, processes and machinery for the chemical and plastics industry.
An unmissable date for all professionals who are looking for innovative solutions to improve the competitiveness of their companies, as well as the optimization and modernization of their production processes. It will be the first fair of the chemical and plastic sector to be held in the center of the Iberian Peninsula.
“ChemPlastExpo is much more than a commercial platform, it is a unifying meeting point for the exchange of knowledge of two growing sectors,” says Leo Bernd, director of ChemPlastExpo trade fair. “It is a space for generating business, collaborations, presentations of novelties and projects for manufacturers, distributors and users. In addition, it brings together public and private organizations linked with the objective of promoting all its new initiatives “.
“In this first edition of ChemPlastExpo we anticipate an attendance of 9,400 professionals, we have the collaboration of more than 60 organizations and associations and 200 exhibiting companies”, concludes Leo Bernd.

ChemplastExpo & Congress: the discussion of the implementation of industry 4.0 in both sectors
“Our intention is to turn this Congress into a reference event for any professional in the field of chemistry and plastics. For this, two parallel events will be developed, with a high-level selection of the most disruptive innovations and the technologies that will mark the future of both the chemical industry and plastics “, says José Garcia Reverter, director of the Congress of Applied Chemistry and Industry 4.0 and European Congress of Plastic Engineering, and director of R+D+i of AINIA, technological center.

“On the one hand we have the Congress of Innovation in the Chemical Industry, the largest national congress of the chemical sector, and, on the other, the Congress of Innovation in the Plastic Industry. We estimate a total attendance in both events of more than 800 people, more than 170 papers, of which 12 will be great talks and we will also have another 12 supersessions and 36 sessions. Although the themes will be diverse, in both conferences we will focus disruptive advances on three key issues: Sustainability and Circular Economy; Digital transformation and Industry 4.0; and the revolution in new materials, “says José García.
In addition, ChemPlastExpo will host the 8th edition of the National Congress of Chemical Distribution, organized by the Spanish Chemical Trade Association, among other events such as the Leadership Summit, a lunch with industry leaders and stakeholders, the Science Campus that brings together all the technological centers and startups that bring new solutions to the world of plastics and chemistry in general, the Labtech Innovation Theater, a space where the challenges of the future of both sectors will be presented, and the Chemplast Awards, awards that recognize the most disruptive projects of the sector.


Institutional and industry support
More than 40 organisms and organizations of European and national scope already support ChemplastExpo, among them Enterprise Europe Network, the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, the Community of Madrid, the City Council of Madrid, ChemSpain, Fedit (Network of technological centers), ChemMed, Spanish Association of Composite Materials, the Spanish Center for Plastics, the AITIIP Technology Center, IASP (global network for science parks and innovation areas) and the Spanish Association of Plastics Industry.
Madrid, among the leaders in terms of turnover and production in both sectors
The Community of Madrid currently maintains a strong position in terms of invoicing and production in both chemical and plastic sectors. By turnover, Madrid is one of the leading Autonomous Communities of Spain in what refers to the chemical sector with 8,501 million euros, representing a 13.5% of the total Spanish market.
The Spanish chemical industry is a key sector for the Spanish economy. Its activity directly and indirectly generates 5.6% of the national PIB and employs 3.5% of the employed active population. In 2017, the Spanish chemical industry achieved a turnover of 63,100 million euros.
Regarding the plastics industry in Madrid, the latest data also highlight a strong position in terms of turnover compared to the rest of Autonomous Communities with 732 million euros, representing a 5% of the total Spanish market. In 2015, the Community of Madrid had 466 rubber and plastic manufacturing companies, one of the highest figures in all of Spain after Catalonia and the Valencian Community, both Communities with 1,238 and 956 companies respectively.
